Breast Cancer BBQ

September 10, 2017

This was our other BBQ which was auctioned at the St. Paddys Day party in March.

It was won by Evonne Delegarde who invited 35 women as a Breast Cancer fundraiser.

Thanks to member Ray Heuvel for donating the use of his trailer BBQ.

We had 12 members come out to support this successful event.

2017 Docksyde Final Cruise-in

September 5, 2017

This was the Docksydes final cruise-in of the 2017 season. It was the Cruise-in for Cancer which had been cancelled earlier this season due to rain.

The Golden Gears were well represented at the show and we donated a cheque to Brian Erratt in support of Cancer Research.

There were over 100 cars on-site and I have created a slide show with just a few of the great vehicles that were there.

Check them out!

Car Show with Eddy and the Stingrays

August 29, 2017

Sunday, August 27 brought us perfect weather for a car show.

We had 326 vehicles registered and another 80 or so came in after registration had closed.

There was a huge crowd of spectators this year. They enjoyed walking the field to see the cars and then settled into lawn chairs for the entertainment.

Once again, Eddy and the Stingrays put on a great show!

I\'ve put a few photos of some of the cars in a slide show. There were just too many to show them all!

Our Facebook page has a lot more photos courtesy of Spd-Kilz.com.   (https://www.facebook.com/pg/spd.kilz.ottawa/photos/?tab=album&album_id=833014253539684)

Thanks to all who attended.

August 7, 2017

The Golden Gears did it again!

Gary Tracey won both Runner-up and First place in his categories.

Claude Lavoie won First place in Pre-war and Best Restoration Pre-war.

Congratulations to both!

We had a very successful event and did indeed -Fill the Rat Rod- !

Thanks to Gary Tracey for his truck and to our members who helped out on Saturday.

JED BBQ July 30, 2017

July 31, 2017

Ed Duncan of JED Express was a winning bidder at the Lions St. Paddys Day party for our Golden Gears offer of supplying and cooking a BBQ for 40 guests.

This took place on Sunday, July 30 under perfect skies.

We set up our tents and had a display of about 12 vehicles for the guests to inspect.

Dinner was chicken, sausages and corn on the cob, which the guests enjoyed in a beautiful dining tent.

A few pics in the slide show section.

Kirk McMillan BBQ - July 23

July 23, 2017

Kirk McMillan once again held a BBQ for local car Clubs.

This year the Hwy 43 club was invited as well as the Golden Gears.

The weather held off and it got quite warm on the field.

We were treated to delicious smoked meat on a bun and cole slaw.

It was a great day of camaraderie and laughs plus a car show to boot.

Some pics in the slide show section.

Highway 43 Club Cruise Night - July 21

July 22, 2017

Another good weather night saw over 100 cars in attendance, including 9 from the Golden Gears.

Some beautiful restored and unusual vehicles were seen. How about a 48 Pontiac on a 95 1-ton dually chassis?

The Golden Gears once again did well in the draws. (Thanks for the clock, Paul!)

A few pics in the slide show section.

Golden Gears Cruise Night - July 20

July 22, 2017

Wow! Another beautiful weather night!

We had over 30 cars at this show, including 6 Corvettes (!) and a 28 Olds 5-window Coupe body shell on a flatbed.

2 of the Corvettes came down from Ottawa.

Thanks again to the Leos for providing burgers and dogs.

The usual door prizes and the 50/50 draw rounded out the evening.

A few pics in the slide show section.

Fly-in Breakfast and Car Show

July 16, 2017

Sunday, July 16 and we finally got some good weather!

It was ideal for both planes and cars.

The Golden Gears Car Show drew about 40 vehicles to the Iroquois Tennis court area.

40 planes, 1 helicopter and 3 float planes flew in.

A good crowd visited both the airplanes and cars that were on display.

Breakfast was served to approx. 560 people!

A few pics of the event are in the slide show section.

Golden Gears Donation to TAMI

March 20, 2017

The Iroquois-Matilda Lions Club held a St. Pattys Day Party on March 11, 2017 at the Matilda Hall.

This was well-attended by over 200 people, who were entertained by the Kitchen Party, a Celtic band.

There were many items up for the Silent and Live Auctions.

The Golden Gears donated an all-expense BBQ for up to 40 persons as an auction item.

This proved so popular that we offered a second BBQ to the next-highest bidder.

In the end, these 2 items added over $2000 to be donated to TAMI (Talking About Mental Illness).

Cheque presentation to Fort McMurray Firefighters

December 9, 2016

Almost $300 was raised from the sale of Iroquois History books over the past few months.

The Golden Gears Club decided to top this amount up to $500 and we will send these funds out the Fort McMurray Firefighters.

Thanks to Jeff Beaupre for organizing and running this effort!

A photo of this presentation is in our slide show section.

Golden Gears Donations

October 17, 2016

It might not feel like Christmas yet, but the Golden Gears have kicked off the season early with donations to several local charities.

At their October 11 meeting, the club approved donations of $250 each to the Dundas County Food Bank and The South Dundas Christmas Exchange.

Another donation of the same value was made to the For for All Food Bank in Cardinal.

The funds represent the proceeds from the 50/50 draw held at the club\\\'s car show and concert on August 28th.

Club President Henry Swank presents the cheques to Carol Richer [left] of the Christmas Exchange and Amy Jamieson of the Morrisburg branch of the Dundas County Food Bank.

I have added the photo to the Slide Show section
